I posted a couple of articles in the past month or so about Marty Tankleff’s release from prison after new evidence was turned up by a private investigator, Click Here
The big story was the good work done by private investigator Jay Salpeter in turning up new evidence that freed Tankleff from a life prison sentence. Click Here
Marc Howard, associate professor of government at Georgetown University, wrote a piece in Newsday about his association with Tankleff while he was incarcerated. Howard says that NY is going to drop charges against Tankleff on January 18. For complete story Click Here

According to the Burlington, VT, Free Press editorial, the Vermont legislature has at least two bills pending that would limit public access to court records and other public information. Summary is below. For whole story Click Here
“This year, the assault on open government in Vermont is getting an early start.Even before the opening gavel falls on the legislative session, at least two bills that would limit public access to court records and information on death certificates await consideration. One bill seeks to delete Social Security numbers and causes of death from death certificates, information long available on the public documents. The other would prohibit the state judiciary from posting court documents on the Internet, something federal courts have been doing for some time.”
