 PIAVA MEETINGS 

PIAVA meetings are generally held the third Wednesday of each month (except no meetings in July and August). The location will vary so please email us for the location of a particular meeting. The start time is usually 7:00pm. If you are interested in attending, please contact Bill Lowrance, President at: president@piava.org 

OUR MEMBERSHIP 

Our members are registered private investigators and/or owners of licensed private security companies.  Many of our members are former law enforcement, federal, state and local, investigators, former military investigators, former federal investigators who now own private security and investigative companies.  Many of our members are experts in various investigation and investigative techniques such as surveillance, photography, computer forensics, fraud investigations, background investigations, domestic investigations, database and Internet research and more. 

We have two catagories of membership: Principal and Affiliate 

Principal Members: Shall be any private investigator registered with the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). This membership is open only to individuals and is not transferable. Principal Members are entitled to full rights at all association meetings, except Board of Directors meetings, unless the member is a director. Application fee and Initial Dues are $60.00. Annual dues are $45.00. Duly licensed private security services businesses are featured on the association’s Company Directory.  

Affiliate Members: Shall be open to licensed private investigators from States other than Virginia; to individuals who are registered by DCJS in other private security categories; and industry related individuals who support the goals of PIAVA and agree to abide by our Code of Ethics. Application fee and initial dues are $45.00. Annual dues are $35.00. Affiliate members are listed in the Member’s Only section of the association’s website.
