Nothing was posted over the weekend.  So, today there will be several informational and educational posts for all investigators.

We posted a GPS review the other day.  Now, however, what about the best maps via computer and Internet?

Here are some great map sites:

Microsoft’s Live.com maps–great with satellite, road, traffic views, MS Live

Google maps with same satellite, road etc. — Google Maps

Install “google earth” and you can get some extremely detailed views of a specific area.

Google Earth

Google Earth combines the power of Google Search with satellite imagery, maps, terrain and 3D buildings to put the world’s geographic information at your fingertips.

You can get all kinds of weather/climate information and maps (historical and present) at NOAA, National Weather Service, NOAA Weather.

The US Census has an interesting map site, see US Census.

Ever need complete moon and sun data–times of sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset– go to US Naval Observatory, very interesting stuff: USNO.

Whew, enough of maps.
