books-2.jpg   According to the Burlington, VT, Free Press editorial, the Vermont legislature has at least two bills pending that would limit public access to court records and other public information.  Summary is below.  For whole story  Click Here

“This year, the assault on open government in Vermont is getting an early start.Even before the opening gavel falls on the legislative session, at least two bills that would limit public access to court records and information on death certificates await consideration. One bill seeks to delete Social Security numbers and causes of death from death certificates, information long available on the public documents. The other would prohibit the state judiciary from posting court documents on the Internet, something federal courts have been doing for some time.”
